I'm not really a good beginning-to-end reader; I skim quite a bit. One of my favorite things about Usborne books is that I can literally open any of our nonfiction books to a random page, read a paragraph or two, and LEARN something! Knowledge is presented in bite-sized chunks so children (and me!) don't get overwhelmed. I love that!
The Story of Inventions is a perfect example of this ingenius, inviting format!
From the Usborne website:
"Toasters, toilets and televisions, computers, cars and chocolate bars, flying machines and even your jeans. All these everyday things and many more are only here because someone bothered to invent them. This book reveals the real-life stories and bright sparks behind dozens of brilliant inventions."

Airplanes!
Vacuum cleaners!

Usborne books always have a high picture-to-text ratio, so our books are inviting and appealing to children!
Chewing gum!
Potato chips!
Computers!
An awesome invention timeline is included towards the end of the book.
The Story of Inventions is such a great book to get kids interested in Science and entrepreneurship! There is just SO much to soak up in this 96 page book! It's geared to children ages 8 and up, but I've seen many adults reading it very intently, too! Click here to pick up your own copy for only $10.99!
