Book Look - Animals at War

I've had the opportunity to read many of Usborne's fabulous books lately, and I simply must tell you about this amazing find, Animals at War.

I cry every single time I read this book to my girls! Wimpy, I know! ;)

If you have an animal lover or a history buff, you've got to check out this collection of stories about how animals were used in the wars. Simply amazing and fascinating!

Here's a sneak peek inside (click the pictures to enlarge):

Look at the camera on the dolphin; it's a spy-dolphin!

Dogs carried messages to different trenches! The one above has one around his collar.

This bear - this adorable, sweet, kind bear - was adopted by Polish soldiers when he was just a little cub. He traveled with them, kept their morale high, and he even wrestled with his human friends for fn (although he always won, of course!). When his soldiers were pinned down, Voytek the bear came to their rescue. His friends were unable to carry the heavy ammunition crates to where they were most needed, so Voytek picked them up and brought the weapons to his soldiers. Unbelievable! The page above always makes me cry; go ahead, read it really quickly. I'll wait...

Are your eyes a little misty, too? It's okay, I won't judge.

Animals at War is full of stories like Voytek's, stories of animals showing compassion, bravery, and loyalty during war times.

I had no idea!

This 64-page hardback book is priced at $6.99 (such a deal!) and is a new addition to our Young Reading Series for ages 8 and up (although my 6 and 3 yo daughters love it as a read aloud book!). Click here to get your own copy!

I plan on doing lots of 'Book Looks' to show you what's inside my favorite Usborne books. SO excited to share them with you! Click here to like Usborne Book Barn on Facebook so you won't miss any sneak peeks!
